- Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles
- Complete preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, and replacing filters
- Maintain equipment in functional condition by listening to operator complaints, conducting inspections, repairing engine failures, repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, replacing parts and components, and repairing body damage
- Verify equipment serviceability by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
- Comply with state equipment requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
- Maintain equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting
- Maintain equipment records by recording service and repairs
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
- Contain costs by using warranty and by evaluating service and part options
- Keep supplies ready by inventorying the stock regularly, placing orders, and verifying receipt
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
- Accomplish maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed
